The 30th of November 2019 was the day all sportsmen and women waited for anxiously. Buses, taxis and minibuses came from all over South Africa and Africa transporting athletes, soccer players and netball players.
The games kicked off on a very high note with Athletes competing for the top three spots which were grabbed by Jennet Hanry, Nandi Nyathi and Lerato Mokoena.
Next up was the soccer field where 8 teams when up against each other on the. Gauteng North took on Mpumalanga, Kwazulu- Natal against Western Cape, and Gauteng South against Mozambique, Zimbabwe against Eastern Cape and Northwest against Limpopo.
The games were heated because all teams travelled from far and wide to acquire the ultimate winning sport.
The quarter-finals were a sight for sore eyes when Northwest sent Limpopo packing with the final score 7/1 qualifying them for the semi-finals.
Defending champions Gauteng South took on Mozambique bagging only one point which took them to the semi-finals.
It would have been presumptuous of any of the spectators if they had already pinpointed a winner because the road to the finals was not easy.
The favourite team, North West fought hard to acquire the first spot but Gauteng South played harder and better and they were crowed the Dr S.B Radebe Foundation sports champion 2019/2020 Zimbabwe being the runner ups and Northwest taking the 3rd place.
The netball side was as competitive with teams from Zimbabwe, Eastern Cape, North West, Kwazulu-Natal, Gauteng and Western Cape.
All teams showed nothing but dedication and ambition but at the end of the day there can only be one winner and Zimbabwe are the reigning netball champions for 2019/2020
