On the 16th of March 2019, the Dr. S.B Radebe foundation officially launched the sporting season for 2019 at the Huntersfield stadium in Katlehong East of Johannesburg.
The sporting event saw more than eight hundred sporting fanatics flocking into the stadium, which included ward 55 branch chairperson Mr. Tinyiko Lukheli, Ward Councilor Jacky Mahoro and the Secretary for ward 55 Charles Masinga.
The event consisted of three different sports; athletics, netball, and soccer which proved to be the favorite sport for the fanatics.
"This marks the opening of the sporting season for 2019 under the Dr. S.B Radebe foundation and I can see that people came in numbers to support the opening," said Dr. Prophet Radebe the founder of the foundation who also happens to be a player for the Wolmarans soccer team.
The prophet encouraged the people to continue to support sport's and that the turn out to such sporting events should double throughout the sporting season.
"I heard that Dr. Prophet Radebe helps keep children off the streets through sports and I come to support" said Mr Lukheli who went on to say he had other engagements for the day but because of the fanatics initiative done by the Dr. S.B Radebe foundation he had to be present.
The Gauteng region went against each other with Wolmarans (mother branch) dominating the soccer and proving why they are the mother branch with a win over Germiston branch, the Tembisa branch refused to miss out on the winners spot light bagging a win against the Gugulethu branch.
The sporting season is off to a great start and all sights are set on the trophies at the end of the season.
